What a fun photo assignment! lol. I'd have to say that I like both of them for different reasons. The first one is like where's waldo... Once I blew the pic up I saw this delicate animal on this delicate plant... The second I like because I feel like the composition reflects the animal you are capturing. I think that the "dog view" perspective enhances this. Encore
aw man, i had no idea that you did snails! i wouldn't have done my slug. but i was at the pet shop and they said they didn't know of snails coming out of the water. i was like wtf?!! i've seen tons of snails out of the water.
These are beautiful Ryan! I'll admit they seem outside of what your normal subjects of imagery are but you excel in them! Hope you continue with this aspect of photography.
My suggestion would be to seperate the snails as the combination of the two plus whatever is behind them distracts from the overall strenght of the image (sometimes simplicity is best...actually most times it is)
the colors in these images are so strong and sharp and draws the viewers eyes...wonderful! hope to see more!
by the way...who's camera did you use or did you just buy color film?
I love the detail of both of these images. The first photo is very bright and I get the sense that you have caught a very intimate moment in nature. The second photo, though staged, is such a great idea. The snails on the moss, all in greens works really well.
beautiful focus and color on the first image. i think the second one would be better from a different angle and maybe with the snails separated. they kind of blend together and its hard to tell what's what.
